The MTN SME Motivation Series train stopped off at Ibadan on Tuesday, 25th of July, amidst excitement from entrepreneurs across the city.
The event, titled Creating Value for SMEs in a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) Environment, featured masterclasses on effective social media leveraging, the art of selling and efficient funding for SMEs. It also provided valuable networking opportunities for attendees.
One of the highlights of the Series was the social media masterclass moderated by Subomi Plumptre, Head of Corporate and Social Practice at Alder Consulting, Lagos. The masterclass enlightened participants on the right approach to social media for business in the digital age.
Also speaking on the resilience of an entrepreneur and the practicalities of running a business in Nigeria was Odukoya Taofik Oladipupo, the CEO of Vanguard Pharmacy Ltd, who implored aspiring and existing business owners to focus on brand differentiation and the capacity to accommodate change.
Attendees were also taken through the various ways the government supports SMEs through the Small and Medium Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), and Yinka Fisher, the Lagos State Coordinator of SMEDAN, enlightened participants on the relevance of SMEs and the numerous government interventions available to SMEs in the country.
The event, sponsored by MTN Business, also provided a platform for entrepreneurs to exhibit their goods and services, in addition to exposing participants to various ways technology can make a huge difference in the running of a business.
